welcome to Baroland

policy

the photographs

Every photograph on this site belongs to Baro. Look at them as long as you like. Use one without asking and the lawyers of Baroland will sue your ass. Ask nicely first and they probably won’t have to.

citizenship

Subscribing makes you a citizen. There is no ceremony and no fee. Letters arrive when there’s something worth sending and not on any schedule you could set a watch by.

Every letter has an unsubscribe link. It works immediately, without questions. Citizenship may be renounced at any time; the photographs stay where they are.

correspondence

Reply to a letter and it reaches a real person, who reads it. Whether she answers depends entirely on the letter.

privacy

No adverts, no trackers belonging to anyone else, nothing sold or shared.

When you visit I keep a note of it: your IP address, roughly where you are, what device you’re on, which photographs you open, how long you stay, and a random number that recognises your browser if you come back. It’s so I can see which pictures people like and whether anyone is enjoying the place. Marketing, essentially.

I don’t know who you are. People turn up from all over the world, subscribers included, and what I see are shapes: a phone in Lisbon, someone who stayed nine minutes and looked at the bananas twice. The one exception: if you’re a subscriber and you click a link inside one of my letters, that one I can trace back to you.

And if you’re an ex, quietly stalking: stay as long as you like. I’m happily married, I love you, and I wish you nothing but happiness, and a life as colorful for yourself as I have made mine.
